Interrupted Pt.2

The Power of Your Words: Taking Back Your Authority

Have you ever stopped to consider that you might be building your future with every word that comes out of your mouth? Not metaphorically, but literally creating your reality through the sentences you speak daily? There's a spiritual battle raging for control of one thing: your words. And the stakes couldn't be higher.

The Weapon You Carry
Your mouth is a weapon. Not in the way we typically think of weapons—aggressive or destructive—but as an instrument of creative power that shapes the invisible realm. Every time you speak, you're not just expressing thoughts or venting emotions. You're issuing verdicts, making decrees, and building structures in the spiritual dimension that will eventually manifest in your physical reality. Think about it: you became a Christian through words. When you confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, something supernatural happened. Your name was written in the Lamb's Book of Life—an invisible, eternal transaction completed through the power of speech. If words can secure your eternal destiny, what else can they accomplish? The Scripture declares in Proverbs 18:21 that "death and life are in the power of the tongue." Every time you open your mouth, you're choosing a side. You're either speaking life or speaking death. There's no neutral ground.

When Interruptions Come
Life has a way of interrupting our journey. Pain interrupts. Trauma interrupts. Disappointment, rejection, and fear all come barging in without permission, severing us from our purpose and keeping us stuck in destructive cycles. These interruptions have a specific goal: to hijack your words. When the enemy can shift your attention from God's promises to your problems, he can get you to use your own authority against yourself. You begin declaring the very things that are destroying you. But here's the revelation: God can interrupt too. When He shows up in the midst of crisis, there's glory, rebuilding, and transformation. Just look at the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace—Jesus interrupted their execution, and they walked out without even the smell of smoke on their clothes.
The question is: what are you allowing to interrupt your focus?

Your Words Are Building Something
Consider this sobering truth: witches understand the power of words better than many Christians do. There are people fasting right now—not for revival, but to increase in demonic power so they can speak curses over pastors' children and believers' families. They recognize that words are spiritual legalities that create realities. Meanwhile, many in the church remain ignorant of the authority they carry. When you plant a seed in the ground, you don't see immediate results. But with consistent watering, that seed grows into something substantial. Your words work the same way. What you speak today is planting seeds that will produce a harvest tomorrow—whether good or evil. You're not just talking. You're sentencing yourself. You're legislating. You're enforcing spiritual realities into the natural realm.

The Rudder of Your Life
James chapter 3 uses a powerful illustration: ships, though massive and driven by strong winds, are directed by a small rudder. Your tongue is that rudder, steering the entire course of your life. Here's proof you already know this is true: if someone asked you to say "I have a terminal disease" seven times a day, you wouldn't do it. Something inside you knows that speaking those words would give them power. Yet we carelessly speak defeat, poverty, sickness, and failure without thinking twice. If you wouldn't deliberately speak death over yourself, why do you tolerate speaking anything less than God's promises? The truth is this: if your words don't change, your life will not change. This isn't motivational rhetoric—it's an immutable spiritual law.

The Name That Enforces Your Decree
When you speak in the name of Jesus, you're invoking the highest authority in heaven and earth. That name doesn't negotiate—it enforces surrender. At the name of Jesus, every knee must bow. Cancer must bow. Depression must bow. Poverty must bow. Every demonic force must take a knee. The name of Jesus is your legal backing. It authorizes you to act. It gives you the right to demand results because heaven itself backs that name. In deliverance ministry, this truth becomes undeniably real. Demons are commanded to leave in Jesus' name, and they must obey. If disembodied spirits in the invisible realm obey the words of believers who understand their authority, what else will obey your words?
This is why Philippians 2:9-10 declares that God has given Jesus "the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow."

Taking Your Life Back
You have one life. One shot. One unrepeatable journey through time. What are you going to do with it? It's time to revoke every negative word you've spoken. Every agreement with sickness, every declaration of defeat, every careless word that aligned with fear instead of faith—cancel it now. The Bible says in Isaiah 54:17, "Every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn." That includes your own tongue when it speaks contrary to God's Word.

Here's your new declaration:
By His stripes, I am healed. God's Word is working in me right now. My body aligns with divine health. My mind is restored. My life responds to the Word of God. I will not speak defeat. I will not speak fear. I will speak what God said.

The Discipline of Words
Transformation requires discipline. It means examining what you're consuming—what shows you watch, what music you listen to, what conversations you engage in—because all of it shapes your words. Your spiritual depth and weight matter. Your sensitivity to the Holy Spirit matters. And these things are cultivated through intentional practices: prayer, reading Scripture, sitting in silence before God, and fasting. The kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. That word "take" means to seize on purpose. Seize your life. Seize your thoughts. Seize your future. Take it back with the authority God has given you.

Your Words Today
Today is a day you've never seen before and will never see again. What will you build with it? Will you use your words to construct a future aligned with God's purposes? Will you legislate heaven's realities into your circumstances? Will you enforce divine healing, provision, and breakthrough through faith-filled declarations? Or will you continue allowing the enemy to use your own mouth against you? The choice—and the power—is yours. Your words are your weapon. Use them wisely. Use them powerfully. Use them to take back everything the enemy has stolen. Because when you align your words with God's Word, heaven itself moves to make it reality.
